The Divine Care of God

(Exodus 13:21) - "And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night.")

As the children of Israel were wandering in the wilderness we can see that God placed the pillars of cloud and fire to prove His love, presence, and His care for the people that He had great plans for.  What an awesome thing it was that for forty years God provided this pillar of cloud and fire.

The divine care of God is seen throughout Israel's wilderness journey.  God provided manna.  God provided quail.  God provided water.  God provided them clothing that did not wear out the whole time that they journeyed in the wilderness.  "And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and Thy shoe is not waxen old upon Thy foot" - (Deuteronomy 29:5).

Just as the children of Israel had the blessing of being led by God day and night, you and I have the same blessing.  God does in fact lead those who are His children by different ways and means.  It may not be by a pillar of cloud or fire, but through the Holy Spirit God will lead us in the directions that He wants us to go.  "And Thine ears shall hear a word behind Thee, saying, this is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left." - (Isaiah 30:21).

What an encouragement it is to know that God cares as much for you and I as He did for the children of Israel.  Are we listening for His direction and once we know what direction that He wants us to go, are we willing to trust His direction for our lives?  Just listen and follow!
